Here is an interesting article for all you, who want to live long and still be mentally sharp. I give you selected tidbits but not the whole article.
Rosemary has been linked to better memory, lower anxiety and even protection from Alzheimer’s
Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), the aromatic herb native to the Mediterranean, has long been treasured in kitchens around the world. But beyond its culinary charm, rosemary is also gaining recognition for its impressive health benefits, especially when it comes to brain health, inflammation and immune function.
Research suggests rosemary may even hold promise in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease, the leading cause of dementia worldwide.
Historically, rosemary has been linked to memory and mental clarity. In ancient Greece and Rome, students and scholars used rosemary in the hope of sharpening concentration and recall.
Modern science is finding there may have been something in this: in one study, people who inhaled rosemary’s scent performed better on memory tasks compared to those in an unscented environment.
Drron Note: I am getting another Rosemary bush to grow in the yard. The pleasant scent sticks to your hands or pants leg if they come in contact.
Another bonus? Rosemary is packed with antioxidants, which help protect brain cells from damage caused by oxidative stress – a major factor in cognitive decline.
Drron note: The European companies have used it for decades it to keep fish and olive oil fresh.
Rosemary is rich in phytochemicals, plant compounds with health-enhancing effects. One of the most powerful is carnosic acid, an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent that helps shield brain cells from harm, particularly from the kinds of damage linked to Alzheimer’s disease.
Rosemary’s benefits could extend well beyond the brain. It’s been used traditionally to ease digestion, relieve bloating and reduce inflammation.
Drron note. I have used it successfully in cremes to help skin become healthy again.
Rosemary oil also has antimicrobial properties.
For most people, rosemary is safe when used in food, teas or aromatherapy. But concentrated doses or extracts can pose risks. Consuming large amounts may cause vomiting or, in rare cases, seizures –particularly in people with epilepsy.
There’s also a theoretical risk of rosemary stimulating uterine contractions, so pregnant people should avoid high doses. Because rosemary can interact with some medications – such as blood thinners – it’s best to check with a healthcare provider before taking large amounts in supplement form.
Rosemary is more than just a kitchen staple. It’s a natural remedy with ancient roots and modern scientific backing. In the meantime, adding a little rosemary to your life could be a small step with big health benefits.
Drron question: Fascinating? Here is another article: https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/rosemary-tea#1-High-in-antioxidant-antimicrobial-and-anti-inflammatory-compounds
Drron:Now common sense and good practice.
One: How do we put this all together. We need a variety of foods, the bigger the variety of foods in our diet the better our chances for optimal health and longevity.
Two:Chemistry tells use we have 4 ways to get nutrients out of herbs and foods.First, crush them mechanical or use your molars. Second, dissolve them out of the food using hot water (water-soluble nutrients), fats for the fat-soluble
nutrients, or alcohol (tincture). So can enjoy rosemary benefits as part of your drinks, meals, and hors d'oeuvres.
Three:All herbs have benefits, just like all berries. Not just blueberries, they just have to most research), all nuts (almonds have most research). When the pecan growers pooled their money for research, Pecans turn out to be just as good as almonds. Research allows you to make legally correct claims in your advertising.
Four: A real big one, all continents or large populations (American Indians, the Europeans, the Chinese, India with Ayurveda medicine, the Australian Aborigines, etc., have similar sets of beneficial herb and plant foods. So go live on the wild side and eat everything. Get variety.
How is Drron? Drron’s is happy, no boredom, and enjoying his walks with Madonna and Jax. No, Madonna is not on a leash! The first picture is the back of missus Red Belly Woodpecker. You can clearly see that the red feathers are only on the back of her head. With the male the red feathers continue all the way to his beak.Next the bright yellow
Mexican Hat flowers. Then dad duck, who greeted me in the morning. the day before mama duck was by herself one street over. They must be taking turns sitting on the eggs in the nest. The young Cardinal looks scruffy and now has the feather colors of mom. The only way you can tell them apart is that mom and dad Cardinal have bright red beaks. Next year he or she gets the true color. Finally, when we picked Jax up he had to have several big drinks out of the fountain. He had it in his mind that he was a camel. Yes, life is fun and interesting if you take the time to soak it up.
Here is a quote I came across: Real food for thought.
Being Happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect. It means that you have decided to look beyond imperfections. From T. Bernard
